Jacksonville Racially-Motivated Mass Shooter Identified as Ryan Palmeter

Jacksonville, FL — In a horrifying act of violence, Ryan Palmeter has been identified as the gunman responsible for the racially-motivated mass shooting at a Dollar General store in Jacksonville, Florida. The incident left three Black individuals dead and has sent shockwaves through the community.

Palmeter entered the Dollar General store on Friday armed with a handgun and an AR-15-style rifle, both etched with Swastikas. He killed three people before turning the gun on himself.

Ryan Palmeter, a 21-year-old resident of Orange Park, Florida, was confirmed to be the shooter by multiple law enforcement sources. He left a disturbing manifesto at his parents’ home, indicating premeditation.

Palmeter was seen putting on a ballistics vest on the Edward Waters University campus moments before the shooting.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office stated that the attack was “racially motivated,” and the FBI has opened a federal civil rights investigation into the incident.

Wendy Via, co-founder of the Global Project Against Hate and Extremism, expressed her grief and lack of surprise over the incident. She emphasized that the shooter’s actions were racially motivated and called for political leaders to take action against racism and far-right violence.

“Tonight we’re grieving, but tragically not shocked, that there has been yet another racially motivated shooting in the US. A white man shot three people to death today solely because they were Black,” said Via.

“What more must happen before our political leaders take proactive measures to stop the encouragement of racism through their speech and policies? Political leaders on both sides of the aisle must denounce racism and stop far-right violence in this country.”

“As we mourn the lives lost due to violent racism and are keeping the family of the three people who were killed in our thoughts — and all those who have previously lost family and community due to bigotry — we demand that politicians and tech companies take action now. These deaths can be prevented if the people with power accept their responsibility and do their job.”
