Fayetteville police: Man shot, car in pool at Fayetteville park

Police are investigating a shooting and a car that ended up in a pool Wednesday night in Fayetteville.

According to the Fayetteville Police Department, the shooting happened in the Seabrook Park area near Slater Avenue. There was a large gathering at Seabrook Park when participants heard gunfire from the outdoor basketball courts near Slater Avenue.

Officers said multiple calls were made to 911 stating individuals were shooting at each other in the area. Police have not confirmed if it was a shootout

Witnesses said they heard “50 shots fired.” Officers found the car into the pool and a man with a gunshot wound. Officers gave the man first aid.

The shooting victim is currently in the hospital with serious injuries.
