Severe Thunderstorms Threaten Illinois and Indiana Late Tonight Into Saturday Morning

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Chicago is warning that a line or clusters of thunderstorms are expected to move across parts of Illinois and Indiana late tonight into Saturday morning, bringing the risk of severe weather.

Some of the strongest storms could produce damaging wind gusts capable of bringing down tree limbs, along with torrential rainfall.

Rainfall rates could exceed 2 inches per hour in some thunderstorms, increasing the potential for localized flash flooding.

The storms are expected to generally move east at around 30 mph.

Residents across the affected areas are advised to stay updated on the latest forecasts and have multiple ways to receive severe weather warnings, particularly during the overnight hours.

The severe weather threat is expected to continue late tonight through Saturday morning.
