Ohio flash-flood threat persists as tornado warning ends

A flash-flood warning remained in force across parts of southeastern Ohio into Monday morning after a tornado warning was cancelled late Sunday as severe weather continued across the region.

Storm warning carries 97kmph gustsAt 11.13pm local time, the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a severe thunderstorm warning for eastern Vinton County and parts of southwestern Athens, northwestern Meigs, northeastern Gallia and northeastern Jackson counties.

Radar indicated wind gusts of about 97kmph, while forecasters said a tornado remained possible.

One minute later, the NWS cancelled the tornado warning for east-central Vinton and west-central Athens counties after the storm weakened below severe limits and no longer appeared likely to generate a tornado.
