A 68 day wait on a leak logged as nonhazardous ended with a house explosion in south Jackson

A residential street in south Jackson, Mississippi, ordinary single story houses, a January morning. One of them is gone.

The blast took the structure apart in seconds and killed an 82 year old woman inside it. Her husband was hurt.

Three days later another house goes up three quarters of a mile away, on a different street. Nobody is in that one.

Both had a gas leak on file. Both had been checked and written down.
