5-Year-Old Girl Killed in Harris County Roadway Shooting

A 5-year-old girl was killed and two other children were injured after someone opened fire on a vehicle carrying a mother and five children in northwest Harris County, Texas.

The shooting happened late Saturday night as the mother drove westbound on Grant Road near Jones Road in the Cypress area.

Investigators said an unknown shooter fired at the vehicle. The 5-year-old girl was struck by gunfire and airlifted to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Two other children suffered injuries from shattered glass.

The mother was not injured.

Authorities initially said the shooting appeared to have stemmed from road rage, although the mother told local media she did not believe she had exchanged words or cut off another driver before the gunfire.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is searching for the shooter and asking anyone with information to come forward. (abc13.com)
