Two arrested after cross-state police chase from Tennessee into Kentucky

Two people were arrested, one of whom is facing an attempted murder charge involving a police officer, following a chase out of Tennessee into Kentucky, according to Kentucky State Police (KSP).
Around midnight on Sept. 18, KSP was notified by the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) of a pursuit involving a vehicle from which shots had reportedly been fired, according to officials.
THP said the driver was part of a “be on the lookout” out of Tennessee. THP told KSP that the vehicle entered Kentucky while being chased by the Portland Police Department.
THP also told Kentucky law enforcement that the driver discharged a firearm. KSP and other Kentucky law enforcement pursued the vehicle as it drove north on Interstate 65.
Despite multiple attempts to deploy spike strips, the vehicle continued north before exiting onto I-165 at Exit 20. The vehicle then continued south on I-165 and then exited onto Plano Road, eventually coming to a stop on Dewey Lake Road.
The driver was identified as 26-year-old Edward Brown of Madisonville, Kentucky, and the passenger, identified as 22-year-old Anastasia Payton of Dawson Springs, Kentucky, fled from the vehicle on foot.
