Crews work to repair gas leak that closed Rock Quarry Road near Barwell Road

– A gas leak in Raleigh has forced the closure of a section of Rock Quarry Road, according to the Raleigh Police Department and Raleigh Fire Department. Authorities received a report of the leak around 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Officials said the leak came from a 4-inch gas pipe on Rock Quarry Road near Barwell Road. Police said traffic is being diverted through a nearby apartment complex while crews work to repair the damage.

Officials believe road construction in the area may have struck the gas line. There is no estimated reopening time for the road. However, Enbridge Gas said repairs are expected to take approximately six to seven hours.

Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes. Location: RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD).
