Update: MS NOW Journalists Denied White House Access After Trump Announces Media Ban
The White House has begun implementing President Donald Trump’s announced ban on MS NOW, CNN and Politico, with MS NOW saying a reporter and photographer were denied access to the White House grounds Saturday morning.
The development came one day after Trump said the three outlets would be barred from the White House over coverage he described as unfair and false. He said the restrictions were effective immediately.
According to the Associated Press report, the MS NOW journalists arrived for work Saturday morning but were not allowed onto the grounds. This is the clearest sign so far that the administration has begun enforcing the announced restrictions.
CNN said Friday that it stood behind its White House journalists and argued that restricting access over coverage would violate constitutional press protections. Politico also said it would defend its First Amendment rights.
It was not immediately clear Saturday morning whether CNN and Politico journalists had also been physically denied entry.
