Pineville man arrested on child sex abuse warrants after fleeing to Arkansas
A Pineville man wanted on multiple felony warrants involving the alleged abuse of juveniles has been arrested after fleeing to Arkansas, authorities said.
Arrest and charges
The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office shared that Daniel Lewis McElwee, 37, was taken into custody on September 16 and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center, being held on an $800,000 bond, as well as a detainer pending extradition to Arkansas.
It was determined the alleged incidents occurred in Rapides Parish, transferring the case to RPSO.
RPSO said their detectives later determined McElwee was allegedly responsible for sexually assaulting two juveniles and physically assaulting another juvenile over the course of several years.
An arrest warrant was obtained on December 8, 2025, charging McElwee with two felony counts of cruelty to juveniles and two felony counts of molestation of juveniles.
Investigators said they learned that McElwee fled Rapides Parish for Arkansas before detectives could arrest him.
On August 19, 2026, detectives with the Ashley County Sheriff’s Office in Arkansas obtained an arrest warrant charging McElwee with sexual solicitation of a child, later learning of his outstanding Louisiana warrants.
Charges and court proceedings
According to RPSO, an investigation began July 17, 2025, when a complaint was filed in St. Mary Parish alleging inappropriate touching of two juveniles.
