Man sentenced for shooting, blinding family dog in Henry County

***WARNING: THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS GRAPHIC CONTENT. A Bassett man recently faced sentencing in connection with an animal cruelty case that left a family’s dog blind in 2025.

On Sept. 9, 2026, 52-year-old Edwin Green Turner was sentenced to five years for animal cruelty, with four years and 10 months suspended.

He was also sentenced to one year each for two firearm-related charges.

ABC13 has reached out to the court to determine if Turner's sentences will be served at the same time or back-to-back.
