1,314 acre wildfire in Davy Crockett National Forest 100% contained

A wildfire that burned over 1,000 acres in Davy Crockett National Forest is now 100% contained, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service.

Evacuations and firefighting response

The fire began around 10:25 a.m. Saturday morning in the area of Elmer Smith Road, Forest Service Road 502 and FM 358.

The fire grew to an estimated 1314 acres being being contained, according to the release.

The USDA Forest Service said smoke may still be present for several days. Residents are urged to use caution while traveling in the area.
