A magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck 45 kilometers south-southeast of Quepos, Costa Rica, at 2:26 a.m. local time on September 10.

The earthquake was recorded at a depth of 10 kilometers, or approximately 6.2 miles. Its reported epicenter was about 28 miles from Quepos.
