A military aide accidentally deployed an inflatable emergency slide aboard the new Air Force One on Wednesday, according to a person familiar with the incident.

Accidental Deployment Delayed Trump’s Departure

The slide deployed shortly before President Donald Trump was scheduled to leave Joint Base Andrews for a Republican midterm convention in Dallas.

Trump remained aboard Marine One while personnel inspected the aircraft, removed the slide and prepared the plane for departure.

Trump Continued Flight to Dallas

Trump told reporters that officials were checking the slide and ensuring everything worked correctly.

The president later boarded the Qatar-gifted Boeing 747-8 and departed for Dallas without further incident. No injuries were reported.
