Fundraiser removed for school bus driver charged in fatal crash

A fundraiser established to provide legal aid for an Auburn school bus driver arrested after a fatal crash has been removed by GoFundMe.

75-year-old Theresa McCloud was indicted last week by a Lee County Grand Jury on charges of homicide by vehicle and criminally negligent homicide for the November 2025 crash that killed Jennifer Cooper, owner of Gigi’s Cupcakes.

The crowdfunding platform sent McCloud an email explaining the rationale behind the removal of her account which she shared on social media.

“We’re writing to inform you that your GoFundMe account was removed because it violates our Terms of Service; specifically, Term 8.10, which prohibits the legal defense of financial and violent crimes, including those related to money laundering, murder, robbery, assault, battery, sex crimes or crimes against minors.” Money that was raised was promptly refunded to donors.
