NYPD Recruit Dies After Collapsing During Workout at Queens Police Academy

An NYPD recruit died Monday after suddenly collapsing during a workout at the Police Academy in College Point, Queens, according to a report.

Emergency responders performed CPR and initially revived the recruit, who was reportedly awake and breathing for a period following the collapse.

Recruit Pronounced Dead at Hospital

The recruit was taken to Booth Memorial Hospital but was pronounced dead at approximately 1 p.m.

The person’s name and age have not been released. The recruit joined the New York City Police Department in April and was still completing academy training.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch went to the hospital following the tragedy.

Authorities have not disclosed what caused the recruit to collapse. The cause of death remains under investigation.
