Two men arrested following vehicle, foot pursuit, DPS says

PUBLIC SAFETY, Texas — SAN ANTONIO — Two men were arrested Monday morning following a vehicle and foot pursuit on the city's Southwest Side, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Arrest and charges

Authorities arrested the driver, 32-year-old Jorge Samy Castellon Soriano, and the passenger, 29-year-old Jose Manuel Moreno Mariano.

The incident began around 10:10 a.m. when a DPS trooper conducted a traffic stop on a Honda passenger car for a traffic violation on Kyle Street.

Instead of stopping, the driver sped off, initiating a vehicle pursuit that led officers to nearby Mallard Street.

Both occupants then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into a surrounding residential neighborhood. Troopers initiated a short foot chase and quickly captured Castellon Soriano.

Moreno Mariano initially evaded ground officers, but a DPS Aircraft Operations unit was deployed to assist, leading to his discovery and arrest.

Charges and court proceedings

Castellon Soriano faces charges of evading arrest or detention with a motor vehicle and evading arrest or detention on foot.

Moreno Mariano was charged with evading arrest or detention on foot. No injuries or property damage were reported. The investigation remains ongoing.
