Wrestling Legend “Superstar” Bill Dundee Dies at 82, Son Announces

Professional wrestling legend “Superstar” Bill Dundee has died at the age of 82, his family announced Sunday, September 6, 2026.

Dundee’s son, wrestler Jamie Dundee, announced that his father died early Sunday morning. A cause of death has not been publicly disclosed.

Bill Dundee Became a Memphis Wrestling Legend

Born William Cruickshanks in Scotland and raised in Australia, Dundee began wrestling in the 1960s before becoming one of the most recognizable figures in the Memphis wrestling territory.

He became especially famous for his long-running rivalry and partnership with Jerry “The King” Lawler, with the two men producing some of the most memorable matches of the era.

Decades-Long Wrestling Career

Dundee also worked as a wrestler, manager and booker across several major wrestling promotions during his decades in the industry.

He captured numerous championships and remained involved in professional wrestling long after his peak years as an in-ring performer.

Dundee retired from wrestling competition in 2019.

Tributes began appearing across the wrestling community Sunday following news of his death.
