Driver arrested, accused of lying about Catskills crash that killed former village trustee

Investigators gathered evidence after a person was struck and killed in a hit-and-run outside the Woodridge Village Hall this week.
FALLSBURG — A driver who allegedly lied to police about fatally striking a man outside a Catskills town hall Wednesday morning has been arrested, officials said. Carlos R.
Gutierrez was charged with leaving the scene of a crash, a felony, Woodridge Police Chief John Calvello said.
Gutierrez, 39, allegedly turned onto Dairyland Road near Woodridge Village Hall and struck the elderly victim, who “fell and was knocked unconscious,” Calvello said.
