U.S. Army Black Hawk Helicopter Crashes in Colorado With Four Aboard; No Injuries

GILPIN COUNTY, Colo. — A U.S. Army UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter carrying four crew members crashed during a routine training operation in Colorado on Tuesday, August 25. No injuries were reported.

Helicopter went down near Thorodin Mountain

The helicopter came down in a wooded area on the eastern side of Thorodin Mountain, south of Pinecliffe and north of Golden Gate Canyon State Park.

Emergency crews found no fire or fuel leak at the crash site.

Special operations aircraft

The helicopter belongs to the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, based at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

The Army described the crash as an “aviation mishap” and opened a safety investigation into its cause.
