Suspect at large in Alton shooting — County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois

COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE, Illinois — According to Lt. Andrew Pierson, a spokesman for the Alton Police Department, the shooting happened around 1:50 p.m. in the 800 block of East Sixth Street.

Victims and police response

Officers arrived at the scene and provided first aid to the victim until they could be taken to a local hospital.

The victim was later taken to a St. Louis area hospital due to the severity of their injuries.

Law enforcement from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois State Police, and Collinsville, Highland, and East Alton police departments assisted in the search for the suspected shooter.

However, the shooter remains at large. Investigators believe the victim and the suspected shooter know one another, Pierson said.
