Springdale Elementary School, near Pine Street and Lewis Avenue, went on lockdown Wednesday after reports of an incident in the surrounding neighborhood, Tulsa Public Schools said. The district said the incident happened in the neighborhood near the school, not on campus.

Out of caution, officials moved the school to lockdown status, and all students and staff stayed safely inside the building throughout. The campus was later cleared of any threat, and the district initiated a controlled dismissal.

“The safety of students and staff is our top priority, and we are thankful to our staff, campus police, and law enforcement for their quick response to ensure our campus community’s safety,” the district said in a statement.
