Jet2 Tenerife Flight Hits Runway During Go-Around at Bristol Airport

BRISTOL, England — A Jet2 passenger flight from Tenerife struck the runway with part of its wing during a go-around at Bristol Airport after encountering gusting winds, damaging the aircraft before it later landed safely.

Jet2 flight LS1884, operated by a Boeing 737-800 registered G-JZBK, was arriving at Bristol from Tenerife South Airport in Spain on November 11, 2025.

Winglet damaged during go-around

The aircraft was approaching Bristol Airport’s Runway 27 in gusting winds when the approach became unstable.

The crew initiated a go-around at low altitude, during which the lower section of the aircraft’s right scimitar winglet struck the runway.

The Boeing climbed to about 5,000 feet before positioning for another approach.

Plane lands safely

The aircraft returned to Bristol Airport and landed safely approximately 15 minutes later.

No injuries were reported among those aboard.

Jet2 said the crew carried out the go-around because of high winds.

Images taken following the incident show visible damage to the lower portion of the aircraft’s right winglet.

Aircraft temporarily taken out of service

The Boeing 737-800 was removed from service following the incident while the damage was addressed.

The aircraft returned to service approximately 41 hours after landing.

The incident involved a flight connecting Tenerife, one of Spain’s Canary Islands, with Bristol in southwest England.
