Indiana Flood Watch Continues as Thousands Remain Without Power After Six Tornadoes

Northwest Indiana remains under a Flood Watch Friday morning, while residents continue recovering from a destructive series of storms that produced six confirmed tornadoes across the region.

The National Weather Service says additional heavy downpours are possible, with LaSalle, Grundy, Kankakee, Newton and Jasper counties among the areas under a Flood Watch.

The severe storms left widespread damage and major power outages across northwest Indiana. Indiana Gov. Mike Braun has declared a statewide disaster emergency, while the Indiana National Guard has been deployed to assist communities with recovery efforts.

Forecasters are also monitoring another round of storms expected Saturday, with damaging wind gusts and localized flooding among the primary threats.
