Two Tropical Waves Monitored in Atlantic as Heavy Rain Threatens Lesser Antilles

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is monitoring two tropical disturbances in the Atlantic as the systems move westward toward the Caribbean region.

AL92 currently has a 20% chance of tropical cyclone development during the next 48 hours and a 20% chance over the next seven days.

Development chances for AL92 are rapidly decreasing as the tropical wave encounters increasingly unfavorable atmospheric conditions. However, the system could still bring gusty winds and heavy rainfall to portions of the Lesser Antilles this weekend.

Farther east, AL94 has a 30% chance of development during the next 48 hours and a 50% chance over the next seven days.

The tropical wave is moving across the central tropical Atlantic, and environmental conditions could support gradual development as it tracks generally westward.

Residents and travelers across the Lesser Antilles and the Caribbean should continue monitoring forecasts as both systems progress across the Atlantic.

Neither disturbance is currently a named tropical storm or hurricane.
