An Iowa tornado warning continues for Brighton, Richland and West Chester until 10:00 a.m. CDT Thursday as radar indicates dangerous rotation moving through the region.

Communities Inside the Warning Area

The updated warning area includes Brighton, Richland, West Chester, Rubio, Pleasant Plain and Salina.

Approximately 2,898 people are located within the warning zone, according to the National Weather Service graphic.

Radar-Indicated Tornado Threat

Weather radar continues to show rotation capable of producing a tornado. Pea-sized hail is also possible as the storm moves across southeastern Iowa.

Residents should not wait to see or hear a tornado before seeking shelter.

Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Stay away from windows and protect your head from flying debris.

People in mobile homes or outdoors should immediately seek shelter inside a substantial building and remain there until the warning expires or officials provide another update.
