Treuchtlingen Bomb Scare: Buildings Evacuated and Trains Halted Over Suspected Explosive

German police are evacuating buildings near Treuchtlingen train station in Bavaria after a suspected explosive device was discovered on railway tracks, triggering a major security operation and widespread train disruption.

The suspicious object was reportedly found by a technician in the track bed near the entrance to Treuchtlingen station in Middle Franconia. Federal Police bomb-disposal specialists were immediately deployed to examine it and determine whether it contains explosives.

Police said the directly affected buildings were being evacuated as a precaution while numerous emergency crews secured the surrounding area.

Specialists have taken X-ray images of the object, but authorities said the results are still being evaluated. The suspicion that it could contain explosives has not yet been ruled out, and further examinations are required before the security cordon can be lifted.

Police have urged the public to avoid the station and stay away from the Alte Burgstraße and Wettelsheimer Straße areas. Motorists have also been told to use alternative routes.

Train services in and around Treuchtlingen have been completely suspended. Regional lines RB16, RE16 and RE60 are affected, with trains terminating early at other stations.

Replacement transportation using buses and large-capacity taxis has been arranged for some passengers, while long-distance trains are being diverted through Ingolstadt.

Authorities said they cannot yet estimate when roads and railway services will reopen. No injuries have been reported, and the origin of the suspicious device remains under investigation.
