Video: Gunfire Erupts at Philippine Senate During ICC Arrest Standoff

Gunshots rang out inside the Philippine Senate earlier today during a tense standoff as authorities attempted to arrest Senator Ronald dela Rosa, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court over alleged crimes against humanity tied to former President Rodrigo Duterte’s deadly anti-drug campaign.

According to reports, chaos erupted after security forces and investigators moved into the Senate complex in Manila, where dela Rosa had reportedly taken refuge to avoid arrest and possible transfer to The Hague. Multiple gunshots were heard during the confrontation, prompting a lockdown of the building, though no casualties were immediately reported.

Dela Rosa, a former national police chief and key architect of Duterte’s controversial “war on drugs,” denies wrongdoing and has vowed to resist extradition. Philippine officials launched an investigation into the incident as political tensions continue to escalate in the country.
