Spain Health Ministry: Suspected hantavirus case in Alicante tests negative, patient to be retested as precaution

Spain’s Health Ministry has confirmed that initial laboratory tests on a suspected hantavirus case in Alicante returned negative results.
Authorities said the patient will still undergo additional testing as a precautionary measure to fully rule out infection and ensure accurate diagnosis. Health officials are maintaining monitoring protocols while awaiting the follow-up results.
Hantavirus is a rare but potentially serious viral infection typically transmitted through contact with infected rodents or their droppings, though no confirmed case has been established in this instance.
