A large fire completely destroyed Congregation Beth El synagogue in Rutherford, New Jersey, early Friday morning, August 8, 2025. The blaze erupted at around 6:00 AM at the religious center located at 185 Montross Avenue, sending thick smoke billowing into the sky as flames engulfed the building.
Firefighters rushed to the scene and began battling the intense flames, while stunned onlookers gathered nearby, watching in disbelief as the historic structure collapsed. Videos circulating on social media show the roof of the building caving in and large sections consumed by fire.
