Fire Destroys House on Tucson’s SE Side, Displaces Six Residents

A fire destroyed a house on Tucson’s southeast side Tuesday afternoon, displacing six people and damaging two neighboring homes, according to the Tucson Fire Department.
The blaze began shortly before 1:00 p.m. in the 9000 block of East Paseo San Bernardo, near South Houghton Road and East Old Vail Road. Multiple 911 callers reported the fire, and some said they heard explosions before flames engulfed the property.
Firefighters arrived on the scene within six minutes of the first emergency calls. By then, about 75% of the single-story home was already on fire.
Crews worked quickly to contain the flames and prevent them from spreading to nearby structures. The fire was brought under control at 1:41 p.m..
Although the home was completely destroyed, no injuries were reported. However, six residents were displaced and are now receiving assistance.
Authorities have not yet released the cause of the fire, and an investigation is underway.
