Photo: Iranian Official Sparks Outrage by Sharing Image Depicting Nuclear Attack on Israel

Date: July 13, 2025
An Iranian government official has ignited international controversy after sharing an image on social media that appears to depict a nuclear strike on Israel. The post, widely condemned as provocative and inflammatory, comes at a time of heightened tensions in the region.
The image, posted by a senior figure linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), shows a mushroom cloud rising over what is clearly marked as Israeli territory. Accompanying the image was a message written in Farsi, widely interpreted as a threat or a warning, though its exact tone remains under debate.
Israeli officials have condemned the post as “an open call for genocide,” while U.S. and European diplomats are demanding clarification from Tehran. The United Nations has also expressed concern, calling the image “deeply irresponsible and dangerous.”
Iranian state media has so far remained silent on the matter, and no official comment has been issued from Iran’s Foreign Ministry. Analysts say the post could be an attempt to rally hardline support within the country or a form of psychological warfare in the face of ongoing nuclear negotiations and regional proxy conflicts.
The image has since been removed from the platform, but screenshots continue to circulate widely online.
