Police-Involved Shooting Leaves One Dead in Denver Suburb

Authorities in the Denver metro area are investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting that occurred Thursday in Wheat Ridge.

According to the Wheat Ridge Police Department, the incident happened near W. 32nd Avenue and Youngfield Street. An officer on patrol recognized a suspect with an active felony warrant and attempted to stop them.

Police say the suspect fled on foot after the officer pulled up behind their motorcycle. A foot chase followed, ending in a physical struggle. During the altercation, the officer discharged their firearm, fatally wounding the suspect.

The Critical Incident Response Team is currently investigating the shooting.
