Blue Alert Issued in Texas After Officer Shot in Attack on ICE Facility

TEXAS, USA — A manhunt is underway after a July 4 attack on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention center in Alvarado, Texas, left a local police officer wounded.
The FBI has identified the suspect as Benjamin Hanil Song, who is wanted in connection with the shooting at the Prairieland Detention Center, a facility operated by ICE.
During the assault, an officer with the Alvarado Police Department was shot and injured. Officials have not yet released details about the officer’s condition.
A federal arrest warrant was issued for Song on July 9 by the U.S. District Court in Fort Worth. He faces charges including:
- Attempted murder of a federal officer
- Use of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence
The FBI is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to Song’s arrest and conviction. Authorities say he is armed and dangerous.
