Child Killed, Others Injured After Tree Limb Falls at Calabasas Summer Camp

Calabasas, CA — A heartbreaking accident occurred Wednesday afternoon at a summer camp in Calabasas, where a child was killed and several others were injured after a tree limb suddenly fell on a group of campers, officials said.

The incident took place at King Gillette Ranch, located in the 2600 block of Mulholland Drive. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department – Malibu/Lost Hills Station, the large limb may have struck up to nine children.

Emergency crews responded quickly, and five people were treated on-site, including two who sustained minor injuries.

“Words cannot express the depth of our sorrow. Our hearts are with the child’s family, friends, and all those affected by this unimaginable tragedy.”

“The safety and well-being of children and adults in our parks is, and always will be, our highest priority. We are working closely with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and appropriate agencies to understand exactly what happened, and we are fully committed to supporting a thorough and transparent investigation.”
