UW–Platteville Police Department: Services, Safety, and Community Support

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Police Department is dedicated to maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors, ensuring that everyone can learn, work, and grow personally in a supportive and culturally diverse setting. An officer is on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week, ready to assist with any emergency or safety concern.
Emergency Services:
In case of an emergency, dial 9-1-1. All 911 calls on campus are dispatched through the Platteville Police Department or the Grant County Sheriff’s Department, with UW-Platteville police officers responding to emergencies on campus property. For non-emergency situations outside regular office hours, call 608-342-1584.
Lost Property:
The University Police provides a Lost Property Form to help the campus community report lost items. Once submitted, the form is sent to various lost and found locations across campus, and you will be contacted if your item is located.
Open Records Requests:
Under Wisconsin state law, records generated by the UW–Platteville Police Department may be subject to release. Requests for public records should be submitted to the UW-Platteville Police Department, ideally using the online Open Records Request form. These requests are generally processed during business hours, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Monday – Friday). Please note that police reports can only be requested after an initial appearance in the relevant case.
Filing a Complaint:
The UW–Platteville Police Department takes any complaints against officers or staff members seriously. If you wish to file a complaint, please use the designated complaint form. A supervisor will follow up with you once the form is submitted. This form is specifically for personnel complaints and is not intended for general inquiries or suggestions.
