Cameron John Wagenius, a 20-year-old U.S. Army soldier, has been arrested for allegedly participating in a cybercriminal ring that sold sensitive data, including phone records purportedly belonging to President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris. was arrested near Fort Hood, Texas, where he was stationed at Fort Cavazos.
Previously assigned to network communications in South Korea, Wagenius was described by his mother as tech-savvy. Operating online under the alias “Kiberphant0m,” he is accused of hacking 15 companies, including AT&T and Verizon, and selling stolen phone records in online forums as recently as November.
Federal investigators believe the data breach involved multiple high-profile targets and extensive black-market operations.
