man died in an officer-involved shooting outside a Walmart off East Platte Avenue, according to Colorado Springs police.
Officers found what they said was an unoccupied stolen vehicle parked in the parking lot at 3201 E. Platte Ave. at around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said they approached a couple who were heading from the Walmart toward the stolen vehicle when department officials said a male produced a gun.
In response, department officers fired at the suspect, hitting him at least one time. The male died at the scene.
Police said the woman who accompanied him was detained following the shooting; she was later released. Her part in the vehicle theft remains under investigation.
