A plane carrying 14 Floridians, including women and children, from Haiti amidst the Caribbean nation’s turmoil has landed at Orlando-Sanford International Airport in Sanford, Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced during a news conference Wednesday afternoon.
DeSantis said this will be the first of many flights to bring Floridians in harm’s way in Haiti back on American soil as part of a state rescue mission.
More than 500 U.S. citizens have been cleared to be rescued from Haiti. Officials said 360 of those are Florida residents. Video:
