Seattle: Male Critically Injured, Suspect in Custody After Rainier Beach Shooting

Seattle: A 33-year-old male is in custody and a 53-year-old male is in critical condition after a shooting Saturday morning in the Rainier Beach neighborhood.

Shortly after 10:00 a.m., police responded to reports of a person shot in the 9800 block of Martin Luther King Junior Way South. Officers arrived and located a 53-year-old male with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.

Police were able to identify a suspect in the shooting and located him at an area residence.

Patrol, along with officers assigned to the SWAT unit, took the suspect into custody without incident. Detectives are working to establish the circumstances leading up to the shooting.

The suspect will be booked into King County Jail for investigation of assault.
