One dead, one wounded in Brooklyn bloodshed; witnesses heard three rounds in Crown Heights shooting

One man died of a gunshot wound to his chest and a second man was wounded in a shooting in Brooklyn on Thursday, police said.

The shooting occurred about 5:30 p.m. near 1556 Sterling Place, in a residential section of Crown Heights, said cops. Witnesses said at least three rounds were fired.

One of the men collapsed in front of the building, and the other ran to a nearby courtyard before he collapsed, according to people at the scene and police.

Responding officers found a 26-year-old man who’d been shot in the chest. He was rushed to Interfaith Medical Center, but could not be saved, said cops.

The second victim, 29, was shot in the leg and taken to the same hospital. He was reported in stable condition.

The dead man lived in the building, according to a neighbor.

The man “was a real cool dude. He lived here with his grandmother. He just liked to hang out, he didn’t bother nobody,” said Jason Campbell, 47.

“The other guy didn’t live here, but they were real close friends,” said Campbell.
