State police probe Collinsville officer-involved shooting

COLLINSVILLE — Illinois State Police are investigating a Tuesday, June 20, incident in which Collinsville Police Department officers shot a man reportedly after he pointed his weapon at them.
According to an ISP press release, the preliminary investigation by the ISP Division of Criminal Investigation indicates that Collinsville police were dispatched to a report of a person with a gun in the 1100 block of St. Clair Avenue in Collinsville.
When they arrived, a 30-year-old man pointed a weapon at officers, according to state police. They fired their guns at him, striking the man, ISP reported.
He was transported to an area hospital with injuries.
No officers were hurt, and the investigation is ongoing, ISP reported.
ISP’s Division of Criminal Investigation was requested by Collinsville police to investigate the incident.
