Police seek public assistance for shooting in Beamville

Niagara Regional Police Service’s 8 district officers are seeking the public’s help after shots were fired at a house in Beamsville Saturday.
At approximately 11:35 p.m., Saturday, May 20, a lone male suspect was observed exiting a white Hyundai Santa Fe on Central Avenue between John Street and Jackson Street in Beamsville, where he opened fire on a house, firing approximately eight times with a handgun.
NRPS officers said a house and an adjacent parked car were also struck during the incident, people in the homes were sleeping at the time of the shooting and there were no reports of injuries.
“Detectives from the 8 District – Grimsby office of the NRPS have been assigned to the investigation,” said a Niagara Regional Police Services press release.
“As a result of the ongoing investigation detectives have reason to believe this is an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the community stemming from this incident.”
Detectives continue to build on information about suspects.
The suspect is described as a Black male, skinny build, approximately 25 years-old, black braided hair, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.
The white Hyundai was recovered later in Hamilton, where it was stolen and driven to Lincoln prior to the shooting.
NRPS is appealing to anyone who witnessed the shooting or have information pertaining to the incident to call 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009935.
Police said anyone (residents or businesses) near the area of Central Avenue and John Street, with video recording devices which could have caught video, such as closed circuit, doorbell, or dash cameras are asked to carefully review footage for suspicious activity between 11:00 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. on May 20, 2023.
