Man in Custody After Teen Fatally Shot in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

A 40-year-old man is in custody after allegedly shooting and killing a 15-year-old boy in Philadelphia’s Port Richmond neighborhood on Saturday night, police said.

The shooting happened near a Sunoco gas station at Richmond Street and Castor Avenue shortly before 7 p.m. Detectives said the teenager was with other juveniles when the man fired a single shot.

The boy ran about a block before collapsing on the 3600 block of Richmond Street. Two passing medical professionals stopped to provide aid. He was taken to hospital, where he died shortly afterward.

Officers located the suspect at his parents’ home about a block from the scene. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage and working to establish a motive.
