A parent’s call to action — Keeping kids safe at school

A Sioux Falls mother said it is important for parents to stay engaged in school security following a school shooting in Oregon a few weeks ago. She said she is not criticizing the district but wants more open dialogue with teachers and staff.

Brandsrud said she has become more aware of district-wide school security since her daughter started kindergarten.
