Mother of Girl Wounded in La Verrière Shooting in France Speaks Out

The mother of Ramatou, a girl seriously wounded in the racist shooting attack in La Verrière, France, has spoken publicly for the first time, describing how her daughter escaped behind a parked car.
Speaking at a solidarity march on Wednesday evening, she said the vehicle had shielded her daughter during the October 23 attack.
Ramatou suffered eight bullet wounds and was rushed to Necker hospital in Paris. Her life is no longer in danger, although her mother said recovery would be lengthy.
“She fights every day,” her mother said, thanking supporters and calling for justice.
A fundraising appeal launched by Ramatou’s half-sister has raised more than €108,000, according to BFMTV.
The suspect, Kévin T., was transferred to the Paris courthouse on Thursday morning ahead of a possible formal investigation by an anti-terrorism judge.
