Bostonian Towing Fires Driver Over Anti-Asian Slur in Cambridge, Massachusetts

Bostonian Towing Service says it has fired a driver after dashcam footage captured him shouting an anti-Asian slur at a woman in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The incident happened on October 24 at the intersection of Norfolk Street and Bishop Allen Drive. The woman’s recording shows two tow trucks passing through the intersection before a driver leans towards his open window and directs the racist remark at her.

After the footage was posted online, the company issued an apology and announced that the employee had been dismissed with immediate effect.

Bostonian Towing condemned the language and apologised to the woman and the Asian community. It said racism, discrimination and hate had no place in its workplace.

The woman, who asked to remain anonymous, told Boston.com she questioned whether the company would have taken action if the recording had not been made public.
