Schönbrunn Zoo Pandas Enjoy Autumn Leaves as Vienna Enters Winter Visiting Hours

Giant pandas at Vienna’s Schönbrunn Zoo are enjoying an autumn treat after keepers filled their enclosure with a large pile of leaves and sawdust.
According to Heute, the male panda immediately explored the pile, rolling through it and scattering leaves. Keeper Renate Haider said the activity was designed to enrich the animals’ daily routine.
The pandas enjoy cooler temperatures, spend time outdoors and eat more bamboo as winter approaches.
Visitors can see them during the zoo’s winter opening hours, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily through January, including public holidays. Closing time extends to 5 p.m. in February.
