Michael Dechellis Helps Recover $158,000 in Gold for Nebraska Scam Victims

Douglas County fraud investigator Michael Dechellis helped recover 35 gold bars worth $158,000 after scammers posing as federal agents targeted an elderly couple, WOWT reported.

Security footage and license-plate readers helped identify a courier’s rental car. A nationwide alert led Illinois police to stop the vehicle and seize the gold, which was returned to the victims.

The alleged courier was initially released. Douglas County now has a warrant for his arrest.
