DHS Launches Nationwide Operation Over Alleged SNAP Benefits Fraud in U.S., Fox News Reports

The Department of Homeland Security has launched a nationwide operation targeting immigrants living in the United States illegally who are accused of fraudulently collecting SNAP food assistance benefits, Fox News reported.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed multiple arrests, including four Haitian nationals and one Cuban national, according to the report.

Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin described the arrests as “just a drop in the bucket,” indicating that further enforcement actions are expected.

Federal law generally bars immigrants without legal status from receiving SNAP benefits, although certain lawfully present noncitizens may qualify.

The benefit fraud allegations against those targeted remain accusations.
